Designed for a Miami botanica and medicinal shop, we noticed the location in which busses drop off customers provided no cross-walk towards the botanica.
Through making a large lit space between the drop-off point and the botanica, we were able to create a safe nighttime crosswalk
By creating a large sheet of recycled steel, punched with a series of holes, we were able to create varying lighting conditions in relation to the programs underneath.
Varying sizes of wholes punched into the steel canopy allow for different lighting conditions depending on underlying program. Karamba was used to determine the final form, as well as column placement.
The use of Cor-Ten steel signifies the Yoruban God Ogou, who "cuts a path" for people to walk, and who's symbolic material is steel.
